This was Inspire health&care 2024

This year's Inspire health&care healthcare fair took place at Flanders Expo in Ghent. The 202 exhibitors together welcomed 3,880 visitors. For their guests, they had not only filled the stands themselves well, but also provided a content program with over sixty sessions.

One of the most inspiring sessions was the keynote presentation Simon Malfait gave at the request of the Flemish residential care federation Vlozo. The clinical care manager at UZ Gent and professor at Ugent discussed the adjustments to, evolutions and even "revolutions" in the nursing profession. "To make nursing ready for the future, we must dare to question it as a discipline. Why do we cling to old methods when there are probably better and more efficient alternatives? We need to think 'outside the box' and explore new ways," Malfait imparted. The general aging of the population and the impending retirement wave of nurses necessitate a lasting reform of the nursing profession. Belgium currently has 126,496 active nurses. A third of them are older than 55. "To improve the quality of care, the labor market must be reformed, with an emphasis within nursing on innovation, technology and evidence-base practice. In this way, the role of the nurse can evolve into a more specialized and integrated key role within healthcare."

Healing environment

"Visiting a trade fair like this is a must for anyone who wants to keep abreast of the sometimes groundbreaking innovations in our sector," Johan Staes (CEO of Vlozo) reflects. "It is also a good opportunity to network with companies that, like the sector organizations, want to think about and collaborate on further developments and improvements." Staes became very impressed with the large, joint booth of Renson and Moment Furniture because of their strong focus on the "healing environment" and the significance of light, air, greenery and outdoor space in it. "Especially in long-term care environments, those aspects contribute greatly to well-being and wellbeing."

Awards

As befits a good trade show, several awards were presented. The communication awards this time went to IQ Messenger, Televic healthcare and Aqualex. Visitors awarded a visitor award to the booths of Idewe, Care Comfort and Anker consult.
