ULC is an established name in healthcare. The family business, founded in 1923, has been assisting clients in healthcare with the construction and maintenance of technical installations for fifty years. Integral cooperation with all building partners is one of its guiding principles. In environments where people with vulnerable health stay and where comfort, hygiene and infection prevention are very important, this is even a requirement. For ULC, this is daily work.
"Together for tomorrow," sums up everything ULC and its employees have stood for for more than 100 years. It is not only the motto for internal use, but is also propagated to clients, suppliers and subcontractors. "By working together integrally in the chain you are stronger and achieve the best results," assures Edwin Hovius, director ULC Installatietechniek. "Particularly in the construction of hospitals, ORs, care centers and laboratories, where technology is becoming increasingly complex, this is critical to the end result. At ULC, with about three hundred electrical and mechanical specialists, we are working on this every day."
ULC Installatietechniek designs and realizes all electrical and mechanical installations. The list of healthcare projects is extensive and includes many hospitals. For example, the Utrecht-based installer is currently active at the main location of Noordwest Hospital Group Alkmaar, which is being completely renovated in three phases. But also at the new construction of the Franciscus Gasthuis & Vlietland in Rotterdam, the Elizabeth-Tweesteden Hospital in Tilburg and the OLVG in Amsterdam.
In addition, the maintenance branch ULC Technisch Beheer is the house installer for a number of institutions, such as the St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein and the OLVG in Amsterdam. Martin Koelewijn, director of ULC Technisch Beheer, says: "We know the installations in hospitals and laboratories very well and have a wealth of technical experience in operating rooms, recovery rooms, IC units and emergency departments, among others. So we work with the hospital to maintain and optimize the technical installations. That means searching for the balance between user interests, sustainability and efficiency, also in the future."
To address the relatively large environmental and climate impact that hospitals in particular have, ULC, as a technical innovator, helps clients with smart, energy-efficient solutions to make their (healthcare) properties more sustainable and reduce their carbon footprint. The company does this, for example, through waste reduction, reuse of materials and circular construction. These aspects are firmly anchored in ULC's corporate vision and working methods, and therefore also in its credo "together for tomorrow.
