Ingenious in its simplicity. This is how hospital furnishings should be. That is why the Hospital Network Antwerp counts on the golden business duo in the healthcare sector: Hillrom-Baxter for the beds of all its hospitals. Within the cooperation contract, the company supplies about 1,600 standard hospital beds, of which just over 300 are in ZNA Cadix.
Ludwig Roelants, account manager at Baxter in Belgium: "Before issuing the tender, ZNA tested beds from many suppliers. That's how ZNA put together the ideal hospital bed that promotes patient recovery and provides maximum support for the caregivers. In the end, she ended up with us. Hillrom beds have been known internationally for decades for their innovative technology, which effortlessly passes the strict American quality and safety requirements."
So how do Hillrom beds differ from other brands? Some strengths according to Roelants: "All the controls for the caregivers are integrated into the siderails. For example, the caregiver stands next to the patient, allowing him to keep an eye on him at any time (Point Of Care). It is also very easy to move the bed to the seat position or to let the patient get off. Thanks to the fifth wheel, centrally located at the bottom of the bed, patient transport is much smoother and more ergonomic. What caregivers and patients also appreciate is that the length of the Hillrombed can be adjusted by 5 cm to the patient's height. An additional benefit is the space savings in patient rooms."
In a few years, the 1,600 hospital beds throughout ZNA will be replaced with the latest Hillrom beds. Production will take place in Pluvigner, Brittany, France. Baxter Belgium supplies and assembles the beds according to the requirements of each hospital within the network and performs on-site electrical safety testing. Meanwhile, the entire healthcare staff, transport people and cleaning teams have received training. Clinical Advisor Ilse Schoonjans: "Proper use of the beds provides greater convenience for staff, more comfort for patients and a longer life span. The reactions during the training sessions were often enthusiastic and the questions very concrete and focused. The cooperation contract also includes 10 years of technical maintenance of the beds. This is done by a permanent technician within our team."
