Last Monday morning, a large truck with trailer arrived in the parking lot of Gelre Zutphen. Alliance Medical is installing a mobile CT scanner here; the first of its kind in the Netherlands. This allows CT scans to be made in a trailer.
We are doing this because the current CT scanner at the hospital in Zutphen will be replaced in the coming weeks; an important investment for Gelre. We will have a state-of-the-art Dual Source CT scanner in Zutphen, which will enable us to help patients even faster and better. This will enable us to offer the best radiological care for our patients, also in the future. In order to be able to continue providing the right care during the replacement, we have opted for this temporary solution.
In this mobile CT scanner the same types of CT examinations take place as normally in the hospital in Zutphen with the exception of CT cardio (heart) and CT colonography (large intestine), these CT examinations are temporarily performed in Apeldoorn.
Patients report to the Radiology Department for CT exams as always in the coming weeks and are then taken by a healthcare provider to the mobile CT scanner. This is done via a covered route.
