As a hospital surrounded by the nature of the Veluwe and Achterhoek region, we not only care for our patients, but also for the beautiful environment in which we live and work. By making our hospital more sustainable, we reduce our ecological impact and create a healthier environment for everyone. Together, we deliver sustainable care and realize the story of Gelre. We are making #GelreGreener.
Together, Roos Imkamp and Anke Kröner are the driving force behind our sustainability efforts.
Rose Imkamp has been working as a sustainability and environmental consultant at Gelre since June. In addition to a great deal of knowledge and experience, she brings with her an enormous passion for sustainability. With a focus on people, nature and broad prosperity, Roos enjoys working with you to find solutions that are good for both our organization and the planet. She will focus on the overarching sustainability issues. She will ensure that we contribute to a greener future at all levels within Gelre.
Anke Kröner has been working at Gelre hospitals as an intensivist for over 10 years. Since this year she has been working one day part per week as Medical Specialist Sustainability. In this role, in addition to her daily work, Anke is committed to sustainability in our healthcare system. Anke takes responsibility for internal sustainability on the shop floor. She is the point of contact for the Green Teams and healthcare staff who are (or want to be) involved in sustainability.
Together they have a clear mission: to make Gelre sustainable and contribute to a better world. As a healthcare sector, we have a great responsibility: after all, we account for as much as 7% of the total CO2 emissions in the Netherlands. It is therefore important that we join forces to make a real difference.
The Green Deal Sustainable Care 3.0 and the Environmental Thermometer for Care will be central to choices and developments within Gelre in the coming years. The Green Deal Sustainable Care 3.0 is a national agreement in which we, as the healthcare sector, work together towards a more sustainable future. The goal is to reduce the negative impact of healthcare on the environment. Important objectives are: reducing CO2 emissions, less medicine residues in the environment, less waste and stimulating sustainable business operations in healthcare institutions.
The Environmental Hermometer for Care is a tool that helps us become more sustainable and environmentally friendly step by step. It gives us insight into how we are doing in terms of sustainability and helps us to improve further.
