Care home Ons Raathuis in Heerhugowaard: 'We enjoyed the project'

Care home Ons Raathuis in Heerhugowaard is a wonderful example of good cooperation. Project leader Sander Bekkema of Van Wijnen Heerhugowaard is also enthusiastic about the
course of this project.

"It's nice to see organizations that are less experienced with this type of project actually get extra involved," he says. "The organization was open to advice and expertise from the various contractors. From that open attitude came several changes that further improved the design. The extra involvement led to a successful realization of the care complex. I enjoyed the interplay of all parties and the involvement of the clients." 

Around Ons Raathuis, Van Wijnen is also constructing a number of other projects a stone's throw from one another. These concern facilities for the older target group, which offer opportunities to continue living in familiar surroundings for longer. Bekkema: "We are still fully building here until the summer of 2025. After that, more new homes will be available in a popular part of Heerhugowaard, the Schilderswijk! There was a fair amount of time pressure on this project. The need for this care facility was great. Providing an appropriate living environment for these people is an important driver for the project. In that respect, this project was special. It is slightly different from a regular assignment. The involvement and teamwork were really top-notch."
