De Brug, in Driebergen and Doorn, is a leading elderly care organization where everyone cares for each other. The organization specializes in providing support with all kinds of daily things, as well as professional care. This is done for various target groups, including people with dementia or memory problems. Regardless of whether the assistance is provided at home or at residential locations, the employees ensure that clients remain in control of their own lives for as long as possible.
Beukenstein Nursing Home in Driebergen is a new construction project of De Brug. At this country-house-style location, frail elderly people can live in attractive and green surroundings. The modern, future-proof nursing home offers people with dementia as well as other care needs a modern, pleasant and safe living environment. "We wanted a keyless building to ensure the flexibility of staff and the safety of clients," indicates Martin Zoons, Technology Department Coordinator at De Brug.
De Brug works closely with healthcare organizations De Bilthuysen and Lyvore, and will eventually merge. It was an advantage that Lyvore already had positive experiences with SALTO's electronic access control systems. Says Zoons, "This makes it easier to combine security and freedom of movement for clients. In addition, many employees work at our locations who all have their own tasks. It is nice that they no longer need different keys, but one SALTO tag that we can remotely and centrally provide with the correct access rights."
From experience, Zoons knows that managing physical keys takes a lot of time and organization. "We have several locations and cannot always be present everywhere to issue keys. Creating and deleting tags in the system is easy. A digital solution takes less time, is more manageable and therefore more secure."
On the advice of Lyvore, De Brug engaged Deurplus. "Together with Hendri van den Hoorn of Deurplus we discussed our wishes. He understood the situation and translated it into a suitable design. An access control system based on SALTO Systems turned out to be a good fit for the set-up and the different client groups at Beukenstein."
The entrances to the sites are equipped with SALTO wall readers and all connecting doors have SALTO hardware. "Employees and some clients can easily move around the building with a tag. Together with Deurplus, the various zones in Beukenstein have been set up, for example for client rooms or facility areas. Access rights for employees have also been defined. For example, a physical therapist does not have access to client rooms while nursing staff does. Within these zones, employees can move freely with a tag, on which the specific access rights are defined. Depending on the location, clients and/or family also have a tag."
Because sister organization Lyvore also uses SALTO, De Brug was able to set up its own partition for Beukenstein within this environment. Meanwhile, De Brug has built up experience in managing the access control system and now does the management completely independently. In addition to the easy assignment of access rights, the SALTO SPACE management software also offers the organization other advantages. For example, the environment is always up to date. "The wall readers at the entrances automatically make changes to the tags that are presented. When the tags are then used with the battery-powered locks in the building, it is guaranteed that people can only enter areas they are authorized for. In this way, we always have complete control over access."
- 24/7 controlled access.
- Optimal flexibility for employees.
- Controlled freedom of movement for clients.
- Central assignment of rights.
- Minimal management, maximum control.
Experiences with the SALTO access control system have been positive, Zoons points out. "SALTO is a reliable system, with minimal downtime and good support. Furthermore, the system is easy to expand. For example, we recently added medicine safes. We were able to arrange access to these safes in client homes or residential groups quickly and efficiently. Authorized residents and staff can now access medications with their tag. This in turn contributes to a safe and pleasant living environment for the elderly."
How do you combine optimal accessibility and burglary prevention? This question is the common thread in Deurplus' activities. After about twenty years, modern entrance facilities for the private and business market are right up Deurplus' alley. "We know the challenges faced by managers, owners, janitors and homeowners," says Hendri van den Hoorn. "Deurplus is a partner that takes complete care of all issues surrounding the door. Through smart advice, expert maintenance and a transparent way of working. With our small-scale team, we can respond flexibly and adequately to everyone's needs."
