The Brainport region is growing rapidly, which brings enormous challenges in the area of healthcare. We are faced with the important task of keeping healthcare accessible for the more than 1 million inhabitants of this dynamic region. Máxima MC (MMC) has a clear ambition: to provide care that is not only of high quality, but also remains accessible to everyone, despite the rapidly changing circumstances in the region.
As a major healthcare center in the region, Máxima MC plays a crucial role in the well-being of the local population. The hospital cares for thousands of patients each year and treats a wide range of medical issues. The Woman Mother Child Center is one of the most important pillars in this regard, as the center is responsible for half of all deliveries in the Brainport region.
The Brainport region is growing rapidly, and Máxima MC is growing along with it. To respond to the increasing and changing demand for care, the hospital will renovate its locations in Eindhoven and Veldhoven. This means more compact construction, focused on efficiency, sustainability and more digital care. With 25% less surface area, Máxima MC will soon be able to treat more patients and provide better care.
Each site is being developed in a unique way, with compact and efficient designs that make the buildings more sustainable and flexible. This creates more space on site and better aligns the sites with the needs of the region. Digitalization plays a central role in this. Marcel Visser, Chairman of the Executive Board: "We are investing in smart care processes and digital innovations to reduce waiting times and keep care accessible. In this way, we can not only help more patients, but also do so more sustainably and efficiently."
In addition to digitalization, the focus is on cooperation, both within the hospital and with regional healthcare partners. Lidwine Tick, president of the Medical Staff Association: "The new layout of our locations ensures better cooperation between care providers, which has a direct positive effect on the quality of care. More efficient work processes mean faster available care and a smoother flow for patients."
The location in Eindhoven, which is over 60 years old, and the location in Veldhoven, which is over 30 years old, can no longer cope with the growing demand for care without drastic changes. Therefore, Máxima MC is opting for a combination of renovation and new construction to meet the growing care needs and changing requirements. Diane Wakker, chairman of the nursing staff board: "These renewal plans offer our nurses a pleasant and forward-looking work environment, thereby investing in retaining and attracting nurses to our hospital. It also provides nurses with the tools and space to build a sustainable and healthy region together with our patients."
By 2032, Máxima MC wants to have a hospital that is compact, flexible and green. Here's what's changing:
Sustainability plays a central role in the plans. Máxima MC has already taken major steps to reduce its impact on the environment. CO2 emissions are already significantly lower than the national average in the healthcare sector. In the coming years, we aim for complete climate neutrality. Thanks to innovations, the buildings will be energy efficient and prepared for future technological developments. With the construction of 16,000 m² of solar panels at the Veldhoven location, we are generating a large part of our energy needs ourselves.
With the realization of this renewal plan in both Veldhoven and Eindhoven, and the commitment to improving care processes and innovations, Máxima MC remains committed to offering care of the highest quality. Together we are building a future in which everyone in the Brainport region has access to the best care, in a modern, sustainable and hospitable environment. In this way, we ensure that our hospital remains a trusted place for the care of the future.
