VieCuri Medical Center has earned the Joint Commission International (JCI) international quality mark for the third time. JCI is an independent organization that tests healthcare institutions worldwide for quality of care and patient safety. This award is valid for the next three years.
Nastasja Cornelissen-Kolorz, member of the Executive Board: "The standards that JCI sets for the quality and safety of our healthcare services help us to keep improving continuously. Our employees work day and night on this. We are proud of our colleagues who show that the best quality of care and patient safety is our top priority."
From October 7 to 11, the hospital received an international team of auditors at the Venlo, Venray and Panningen locations. In total, the hospital was tested on some 1,200 quality criteria. Among other things, JCI looked at medication safety, correct use of patient records, information provision and patient satisfaction. Cornelissen-Kolorz: "JCI gave us many compliments on things that we have already come to consider quite normal. According to JCI, we can be a little less modest. They specifically mentioned the culture of continuous improvement and patient safety. And indeed, that is now really in the DNA of the VieCuri employee."
To assess VieCuri, the auditors followed the "journey" that patients take. This starts at the first appointment in VieCuri and continues through to the follow-up check-up. The auditors visited several departments where they spoke with employees. Colleagues told proudly about their work and their working methods. They also asked patients some questions. The auditors were very pleased with the way VieCuri organizes patient participation.
In 2017, VieCuri achieved JCI accreditation for the first time. In 2021, the re-accreditation took place online because of COVID-19. Now the JCI organization paid another live visit to the Venlo, Venray and Panningen locations. After 5 days, the re-accreditation was completed with flying colors.
