Good sanitary appliances improve working conditions and therefore ensure more enjoyment and less dropout in care. These are and will be very important issues in healthcare in the near future, said Erwin Vennik, owner and founder of Sani-Assist.
Good hygiene makes an essential contribution to overall health, Vennik knows. "But taking (or getting) a bath is much more than that for residents in nursing homes or disability care. It is very relaxing and often reduces physical complaints such as muscle pain or the flu. In addition, the warm water makes people feel safe and prevents agitation." Being able to pay attention to residents and working safely with more "relaxed" and "satisfied" residents naturally also gives more job satisfaction, he says. Something that is an important weapon against turnover and absenteeism in the healthcare sector.
"Thanks to our specialized knowledge and very wide selection, we can provide a solution for almost any specific question or bathroom," Vennik said. "As Sani-Assist, we are not tied to one brand or manufacturer. For example, we import more than ten different high/low bathtubs from various manufacturers. The same goes for wall-mounted dressing tables or shower stretchers, among other things. Also in special sizes."
"In practice, we actually see two types of bathrooms: the functional and the luxurious," Vennik said. "For the functional, a fairly standard high/low adjustable care bath is often chosen. Such a bath is then placed in several bathrooms for 'daily' professional use. Or one chooses, depending on the number of residents and space, a central care bathroom. This is then completely furnished as a wellness or snooze room with a more luxurious bath with, for example, whirlpool massage function, bath speakers and LED underwater lighting."
"In existing situations and older bathrooms, we sometimes have to get creative to install a bathtub, changing table or shower stretcher," Vennik continued. "Older care locations often still have very small bathrooms. Fortunately, in new construction situations, we are always called in at an early stage, and then the most beautiful and workable end result is created. We supply and install mainly in the Netherlands and Belgium but we also have customers in Germany and even on Bonaire and Australia."
"Not everyone needs assistance with bathing, so we are seeing more and more of the aging demographic opting for step-in baths, shower baths and sit-on baths," Vennik concludes. "This is sometimes a crazy market with many spotty suppliers. We set up a separate formula for this this year: Bath Sure. With this, we focus on high-quality baths with unique extras, such as the new innovative sitting bath equipped with special folding door. Because the beautiful glass door hinges in a special way, the user can always get in and out comfortably without bumping their knees. Another example is the raised bathtub. Thanks to the high bath base of approx. 45 cm, the user can sit/lie down in the bath at sitting height. When getting out of the bath, it is therefore not necessary to first rise (stand) to get out of the bath. This makes this bath very safe to use."
