When bringing interior experience to care & cure environments, creating a "healing environment" is an important objective for Lensen. Care environments that give a feeling of comfort, safety and security and have a positive influence on the well-being of clients and patients. Floor and wall design are the important basic decor in which this interior concept is created. Miranda Janssen, designer deStudio of Lensen: "In house Lensen has the best specialists in the field of furnishing and project upholstery. What we come up with as a design studio can be made reality by our professionals."
Floors and walls define the look in every project and form the basis for the furnishings in your healthcare facility or organization. Laying flooring correctly is a craft that requires specific skills. The same goes for installing window and wall coverings. For the upholsterers of Lensen, no surface - traditional or modern - still has secrets. Janssen: "By combining practical know-how with craftsmanship, creativity and daring, the most beautiful floors and walls are designed. Think of special ways of laying with Axminster woven carpet and PVC in herringbone or Hungarian point or other creative patterns. Playfulness is an important element in an interior because it makes a design dynamic, special and interesting. Like at the Spijkenisse Medical Center and the Anna Hospital in Geldrop where different patterns indicate the various zones in the central entrance and staff restaurant. That is a clever piece of specialized work."
The choice of material, design and color is standard endless. In addition, the floor covering can also be designed entirely according to your own design, matching the vision and image of your organization. "New possibilities in terms of design, patterns and mixing different materials on the same surface require specific knowledge and craftsmanship," explains Robbie Bertens, Manager of Operations. "For example, a pattern must continue seamlessly, that's the art. Projects are tightly directed by our own team of specialists, with an exceptional feel for detailing. Because that's where the crux lies: executing details well means the difference between ordinary or efficient, highly comfortable and exceptional."
Wall coverings set the mood in a room and should perfectly match the vision, requirements and look of your organization. When covering walls, factors such as aesthetics, protection and impact resistance play a role. Entirely or partially through paneling: Lensen devises beautiful, customized solutions that are pleasing to the eye and provide the necessary protection or hygiene. Bertens: "Especially in so-called critical areas such as an intensive care unit or an operating room, the hygiene factor plays a crucial role. Very different from welcoming, communal areas where acoustics and aesthetics determine the consideration and choices."
Interior design at Lensen goes beyond the standard. The team knows how to add value to the interior in its own way. Janssen: "Our advice to make the floor a little more playful with a pattern in the middle was initially considered a rather bold choice by the client - Spijkenisse MC - but has turned out positively. The floor has become a real eye-catcher!"
Important facets that come together in a healing environment are: natural elements, organic forms, a calm color palette with sparkling accents, (day)light, spaciousness and flowers and plants. These atmospheric facets form the blueprint of the Lensen design philosophy. Being in contact with, or overlooking, nature lowers blood pressure, improves concentration and reduces stress. A natural environment subconsciously makes us feel able to relax; even the experience of pain is alleviated. Nature does not necessarily have to be actually present, either. Suggestion - in the form of real-looking pictures or silk plantings - has a similar effect.
