The official opening of the newly built wing of the Sint Maartenskliniek in Nijmegen took place on Friday, November 8, 2019. M-Wall is proud to have collaborated on this state of the art project. "It was a special project; not only with the construction of the state-of-the-art ORs with the latest technologies, but also with the new construction of the nursing wards, an outpatient clinic and a rehabilitation department.
All patient rooms and corridor areas are equipped with M-Wall Hygienic paneling at different heights in the color White, alternating with a wood print. On the 'hotfloor,' M-Wall fitted the recovery room, all the OR dressing rooms, the central OR corridor and adjacent corridor areas and medication rooms with M-Wall Hygienic. Most of the walls on the 'hotfloor' are room-high cladding.
The revolutionary OR concept revolves around a pleasant environment for both the operating team and the patient. An environment in which the human being is central. In addition to intuition and comfort, safety in particular has been the main driver of the design.
M-Wall Hygienic White, tailored to critical environments, was used throughout. 'Functionality and safety are paramount. M-Wall Hygienic is easy to clean due to its high chemical resistance and also has an active antibacterial effect. In collaboration with EGM architects, specific details were designed for the corners, workstations and pass-through hatches to keep seams to a minimum, as every edge is a risk for bacterial growth. A thermal weld was used for the connections between the slabs to still create a homogeneous joint. The functional characteristics of a hospital, with the appearance of a hotel. That is what makes the rehabilitation department so special. By applying the M-Wall Hygienic White, alternated with a wood print, the warm feeling of home is achieved with the functional properties of a clinical environment'.
In the Knowledge and Expertise Center (KEC) in Weert, special education and the treatment of children and adolescents with specific care needs are offered in an integrated way. In the interest of the students, a stimulus-free interior was chosen with quiet colors, Green Grape, Beige and Off-White. The soft tones provide calmness and focus. Invisible initiatives were taken throughout the building to make the building molest-proof. M-Wall was allowed to supply the wall protection to protect the walls from scratch and impact damage. This wall protection was chosen because of its fine surface texture. The M-Wall wall protection is non-glossy and therefore blends naturally into the surroundings'.
